SiriusXM announced a new show featuring current head coach of Georgetown University’s men’s basketball team, Patrick Ewing. Ewing, who led the Hoyas to the 1984 national championship before a 17-year Hall of Fame career in the NBA, will co-host the show with Rick “Doc” Walker.
Center Court with Patrick Ewing will premiere this Sunday, January 27th at 11am ET on SiriusXM’s ESPNU Radio, channel 84. The show will lead into ESPNU’s noon broadcast of Georgetown’s men’s basketball game against Big East rival St. John’s University.
“Following his Hall of Fame playing career, Patrick has built an impressive coaching resume over the last decade and a half, and he has fans very excited about what’s ahead for Georgetown basketball,” said Steve Cohen, SiriusXM’s SVP of Sports Programming. “We’re thrilled to welcome him to SiriusXM, where he’ll give our listeners an exclusive and inside look at the Hoyas on Center Court, and will have the freedom to share his important perspective from a long and storied career in college and professional basketball.”
Ewing’s co-host “Doc” Walker played nine seasons in the NFL, winning a Super Bowl with the Redskins during the 1982 season. In his retirement, Walker has gone on to have successful broadcasting career, currently hosting weekdays from 10am – 1pm on The Team 980 in Washington D.C. During the show, Ewing and Walker will go beyond college basketball, covering the latest in sports and offering the audience a variety of high-profile interviews.
“I’m excited about working with Doc and having my show on SiriusXM,” Ewing said. “We plan on having a unique and informative, but most of all fun show, and being broadcast on SiriusXM will allow us to reach a national audience.”
After Sunday’s debut episode, Center Court with Patrick Ewing will air every Tuesday night from 7 – 8pm on ESPNU Radio beginning February 5th.
