US Women’s Hockey star and Olympic gold-medalist, Kendall Coyne Schofield is joining the San Jose Sharks television broadcast for select games during the 2019-20 season.
Last season, Coyne Schofield became the first woman to participate in the NHL All-Star Skills Competition, held in San Jose where she made headlines as a participant in the fastest-skater competition. Shortly after her performance, Coyne Schofield joined NBC Sports Network as a hockey analyst on select broadcasts, also working with NBC Sports California for coverage of the San Jose Sharks second round matchup against the Colorado Avalanche .
“I am beyond excited to join the Sharks broadcast team,” said Coyne Schofield. “Ever since the All-Star weekend this past January, the San Jose community and fans have welcomed me with open arms into the city and the Shark Tank. I can’t wait to live, breathe and talk Sharks hockey next season as a member of the broadcast team.”
Coyne Schofield played a vital role in the US Women’s National Team taking home the gold during the 2018 Winter Olympics. The 27-year old has competed in two Olympic winter games, seven International Ice Hockey Federation Women’s World Championships, nine Four Nations Cups and one IIHF Twelve Nations Invitational Tournament Series, earning a gold medal seven times.
“We are ecstatic to have Kendall join our Sharks broadcasting team,” said Scott Emmert, San Jose Sharks vice president of communications. “As one of hockey’s most decorated players, she will bring unique insight and perspective to our broadcasts, which will complement the work of our existing color analysts. Kendall already has a special relationship with the city of San Jose and Sharks fans following her wonderful performance at the 2019 NHL All-Star Game and we look forward to making new memories with her this season.”
Coyne Schofield will work on select games for the TV broadcast, partnering with play-by-play voice Randy Hahn and either Jamie Baker or Bret Hedican, who rotate as analysts for the Sharks radio and television coverage.
