Howard Stern Inks 5-Year Deal to Remain at SiriusXM

“SiriusXM has inked Howard Stern to a brand new five-year deal. “

SiriusXM inked Howard Stern to a brand new five-year deal. The deal was announced on Tuesday during Stern’s show.

“Fifteen years ago, I joined SiriusXM, a fledgling group of broadcasters. I had been in a toxic relationship with terrestrial radio,” Stern said. “Going to SiriusXM liberated me. I felt like Tina Turner freeing myself from Ike.”

The 66-year-old “King of All Media” is working under a deal that expires at the end of the year. His current deal is estimated to be worth $100 million a year. “I would like to thank my incredible crew that I work with every morning and of course the talented Robin Quivers. Robin, we make a great team.”

Jim Meyer, who is stepping down as CEO to fill the vice chairman role, said that he has been “really clear” that “I want Howard Stern to be on SiriusXM for as long as Howard wants to work.”

“With this contract renewal, I can’t wait to see what else I’ll be right about,” said Stern. “Certainly, I have a lot more to say about Metamucil crackers and stepmom porn. Plus, now that I can work from home, I simply don’t have an excuse to quit.”

Credit Suisse analyst Brian Russo said in a recent report that an estimated 15 percent of Stern listeners could cancel their SiriusXM subscriptions if he left the company, “implying a potential subscriber loss of 2.7 million.”
