Chris Wallace Praises Joe Biden Speech

Wallace highlighted some of Biden’s talking points in his speech and believed that everything the president covered would appeal to Americans.

President Joe Biden conducted his speech to congress this past Wednesday, and Fox News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace praised the commander-in-chief.

Wallace highlighted some of Biden’s talking points in his speech and believed that everything the president covered would appeal to Americans, which The Hill relayed.

“You know, I think this is going to be a popular speech with the American public,” Wallace said. “He offered a lot of stuff. $4 trillion will buy a lot of stuff, from millions of jobs to child care to community health centers, all kinds of stuff, community colleges.”

The actions Biden suggested during his speech would indicate a massive increase in government involvement and spending. Despite these circumstances, Wallace mentioned that the Biden administration is gambling on a post-pandemic American public who has become less wary of the government.

“I think they’ve made a calculation that after COVID-19, people have come to have a different feeling about government,” Wallace said.

“They now feel more trusting and more the need of government and so where this might have turned a lot of people off, and probably still will, they believe the majority of people are going to say, the government is here, and they’re here to help you.”

A long-time face at WCCO TV is leaving as anchor and reporter Liz Collin has departed after spending 14 years at the television station.

“I want to thank you all for the support you have shown me in my home state of Minnesota,” Collin wrote in a social media post. “Thank you for trusting me to tell your stories. Thank you to the talented team who helped make that possible.”

Following the murder of George Floyd in Minnesota, Collin did find herself in the headlines as she’s married to former Minneapolis Police Federation President Bob Kroll, who came under public scrutiny after Floyd’s death.

Also, that summer, protesters gathered outside of WCCO’s studio in downtown Minneapolis. In 2019, Collin stated she did not think her marriage had a conflict of interest, adding that she hadn’t reported on the police in the last two years.

A WCCO spokesperson said the station isn’t planning on commenting on personnel matters. Collin’s post did not disclose what’s next for her career, but she wrote, “The truth makes me tick. I’ll get back to telling that soon.”

Brian Williams Turns Down Nightly News Position at CBS

CBS News president and co-head Neeraj Khemlani attempted to recruit Williams for the network’s flagship evening news program.

Former MSNBC host Brian Williams walked away from the network last year, ending a 30-year run at NBC News. Now a free agent, CNN reports that Williams doesn’t want to anchor the “Evening News.”

Recently, CBS News president and co-head Neeraj Khemlani attempted to recruit Williams for the network’s flagship evening news program. Furthermore, Khemlani tried at least twice; however, it was to no avail.

“Williams, the people I spoke to said, simply isn’t interested in the evening news job — which says a lot about not only Williams’ turn-of-fortune,” CNN’s Oliver Darcy wrote

“But also the diminishing allure of anchoring a nightly broadcast news program once considered to be one of the most prestigious positions in journalism.”

The report doesn’t detail what type of position Williams wants this new chapter to be, but don’t expect it to be a return to the nightly news. In his final years at NBC, he hosted the popular “11th Hour” program on MSNBC during the Trump era, has largely rehabilitated his image.
