The WWE experimented with some new additions to Sunday’s broadcast of Wrestlemania Backlash, which ended up being a fitting name for the event. The pay-per-view broadcast was a disgrace to wrestling in the eyes of many fans, including Dave LaGreca.
The Sirius XM “Busted Open” radio host was livid the moment zombies appeared on his screen during the lumberjack match between Damien Priest and The Miz.
“I’m not TAKING THEIR SHIT ANYMORE! I deserve better than what they put in that f***ing ring during that match,” LaGreca said to a caller that admitted to being entertained by the appearance of the undead. “The Miz who’s a former world champion deserves more than pretending to get eaten by zombies in the f***ing ring.”
Dave LaGreca kept channeling the anger his brother Don has famously flashed on 98.7 ESPN’s “The Michael Kay Show.”
“Years from now, people aren’t gonna be talking about that f***ing shit that I had to pay to watch at WrestleMania Backlash,” the radio host spouted. “Where f***ing zombies are attacking the wrestlers and Adnan Virk is explaining to me what a zombie is. I don’t have TO TAKE THAT SHIT!”
“Do you love pro wrestling?” LaGreca asked. “Vince McMahon doesn’t. VINCE MCMAHON DOESN’T! No he f***ing he hates pro wrestling. He hates it. He hates pro wrestling. He thinks it’s disgusting. He hates pro wrestling. HAAAAATES PRO WRESTLING.”
The stunt didn’t go over well with LaGreca or plenty of other wrestling fans worldwide. Most felt it was an unnecessary stunt to promote Dave Bautista’s new movie, “Army of the Dead,” which sponsored the show. The broadcast didn’t let fans forget about it either as The Miz was “eaten” alive on stage by the zombies.
Priest’s signature bow-and-arrow routine even led directly into an advertisement for Bautista’s new movie. Fans can catch Dave LaGreca Monday-Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on SiriusXM Channel 156.
