Draymond Green has never been shy about speaking his mind, and Tuesday night was no different.
Moments into Game Two between the Lakers and Suns, Los Angeles star forward Anthony Davis faced up Jae Crowder and shot a jumper on the wing. As Davis followed through, he kicked his feet out, and his left foot clipped Crowder in the groin area.
This foul prompted color commentator Reggie Miller to invoke Green’s name into the conversation.
“This is probably going to be a technical because we saw Draymond Green a few years ago,” Miller said before stopping to let referee Zach Zarba explain that the play was under review. “I think the foul will stick. But I think it will be a technical foul on Anthony Davis. It’s unintentional. It’s unintentional. But this is part of the new rules now to protect players.”
Davis received a Flagrant 1 foul call for the gaffe, but Green didn’t like hearing his name get brought up.
“So it’s unintentional now @ReggieMillerTNT?” Green said on Twitter. “You referenced me as if mines was also unintentional? None of y’all said that during the time Clarify your point? Would love to know…”
The star defensive maven and playmaker for the Golden State Warriors wasn’t finished.
“Because if you’re saying mines was unintentional, there’s a lot of cowards that just went silent? And if you’re saying it’s intentional on my behalf but not here, then I shouldn’t have been referenced @ReggieMillerTNT just curious.”
Critics accused Green of intentionally kicking Steven Adams in the groin during the Warriors 2016 Western Conference Finals series with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Once in Game Two and again in Game Three. The latter incident resulted in Green receiving a Flagrant 2 call and a $250,000 fine. Adams himself has since denied any thinking that Green did it on purpose. Now Green is making sure people don’t flip the narrative in hindsight.
