There’s nothing like denim and nostalgia.
ESPN SportsCenter anchor Jay Harris experienced that first hand this week when his mom uncovered a hidden gem from 15 years ago. Harris and some of his pals at ESPN did a photoshoot for GQ that ran as a part of the June 2006 issue, which featured Christina Aguilera on the cover.
John Anderson, Trey Wingo, Chris Berman, Kenny Mayne, Harris, Mike Greenberg, and Steve Levy all rocked some comfortable summer outfits for the shoot. GQ had a nice breakdown of the apparel all of the personalities wore:
“Whether ribbing one another on camera or shooting hoops out back, these guys perform their best in stylish, breathable apparel from NYNE Coolmax fabric. John Anderson and Chris Berman hold court in front pocket polo knits in black and skyway. Trey wears a striped poplin in white with LYCRA fabric, and Kenny Mayne stands tall in a white front pocket polo knit. All clothing available at Macy’s. Yahtzee!”
Harris and the rest of the crew also got a breakdown from the men’s lifestyle magazine:
“Jay Harris gets into the game in white knit collar polo with two-button placket. Steve wears a tidal foam poplin solid and Mike wears the short sleeve version in white and pink. all denim featured by Serfontaine with new T-400 LYCRA fiber, designed for premiere comfort and style.”
I have to give the whole crew credit on this one. Other than Greenberg’s jacket, every one of these outfits could walk down the street today and not get any weird looks. Most of this group has also stood the test of time at ESPN. Only Mayne and Wingo are no longer with the company, and they just left within the past year. GQ picked a lasting medley of ESPN veterans for this photoshoot.
