First Things First didn’t look far to find their replacement for Brandon Marshall. The show announced that Chris Broussard is joining the team as a full-time panelist after making multiple appearances throughout the summer.
Broussard will be added to the show as a co-host, joining Nick Wright, Kevin Wildes, and Jenna Wolfe. Outkick reported that Marshall was unlikely to return to the show for football season to “pursue other business and media opportunities.”
“We have a new co-host,” Jenna Wolfe said on Monday’s show. “He is going to join us momentarily. He is one of our favorite people at Fox Sports. I’m going to give you a hint, that is what I do. Much like Cher, and Kanye, and Madonna, and Oprah the guy goes by one name. That’s how popular he is. I’m so excited.”
Broussard also hosts The Odd Couple with Rob Parker on Fox Sports Radio, and he’s bulking up his schedule with the added morning show duties.
NFL Network is also going through their own morning show shake-up as they look for a replacement for Nate Burleson on Good Morning Football after he moved to the CBS morning show. The New York Post’s Andrew Marchand noted that Deangelo Hall and Andrew Hawkins would be prime candidates to replace Burleson, and it looks like Hall is getting the first look.
The former NFL cornerback is on the show every day this week in what appears to be an audition for the role left open by Burleson. Hall is a frequent contributor on the weekend editions of GMFB and has been sharpening his media skills on the network for the past two years.
It could be fitting for the network to flip the script from a wide receiver’s perspective to a defensive back’s, while also bringing on someone experienced with the GMFB brand.
