NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah came clean about a few of his great picks from this past weekend’s NFL slate.
Jeremiah appeared on The Rich Eisen Show and confessed something about his NFL Network game picks, which included a lone wolf prediction that the Cincinnati Bengals would beat the Baltimore Ravens.
“You want the content to live as long as it can; it’s not evergreen when you’re picking games,” Jeremiah said to Eisen, describing the process for NFL.com’s expert picks. “They want that to go up on Tuesdays.”
Jeremiah acknowledged that Tuesday isn’t the most ideal day to pick games on his schedule, or the NFL’s, seeing as the teams don’t have injury reports up until Wednesday. His hectic schedule led Jeremiah to use a ghost picker that he might want to use every single week.
“I get these text messages, ‘hey you gotta pick the games, gotta pick the games, can you please pick the games?’… Finally, I’d had enough. I said give me the Cardinals 45-10; you can pick the rest.”
Jeremiah’s ghost picker made him the only NFL Network analyst on the picks graphic to correctly nail the Bengals 41-17 upset win over the Ravens.
“My ghost picker picked the Bengals to beat the Ravens,” Jeremiah admitted. “I was the only one out of like 15 experts to pick the Bengals to beat the Ravens. The Bengals account–after the game–shouted me out and thanked me for being a believer in the Cincinnati Bengals! Turns out, I didn’t even make the pick! Wasn’t even me.”
Eisen asked him the tough question to close the story: Did you regret seeing the Bengals pick when you first saw it?
“I’m going to be honest with you Rich,” Jeremiah responded. “The first time I knew I picked the Bengals was when the Bengals account tweeted out that picture.”
