NFL running back Najee Harris is the star of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2021 offense, and he took center stage on Monday Night Football. Harris helped his team capture a 29-27 victory and had to dispel some incorrect information from Steve Levy as well.
The play-by-play voice noted Harris’s struggles growing up and misstated his sleeping arrangements in college. The running back lived in homeless shelters as a kid.
“Even when he got to Alabama on the full ride, got the fancy dorm room, he spent the first few months in Alabama sleeping on the floor,” Levy said of Harris. “He said he’s just more comfortable, more used to that.”
Harris corrected the broadcaster immediately following the game. Levy seemingly mistook Harris for another Alabama star running back in Josh Jacobs. The former Crimson Tide ballcarrier told Bleacher Report in 2018 that he slept on the floor in college because it was more comfortable.
“Bra I ain’t sleep on no dam floor in college,” Harris tweeted. “I slept on my bed.”
Levy, to his credit, owned the mistake immediately and told Harris he is donating to the running back’s foundation.
“I got this part wrong Najee, my mistake,” Levy tweeted. “Your story is inspirational & mission to positively impact is admirable. I’ll be donating to the Da’ Bigger Picture Foundation and encourage others to help Najee’s greater purpose where they can.”
Harris led the team in total yards on Monday night and had a very entertaining postgame interview afterward with ESPN Deportes.
Harris was clearly excited to test out his Spanish chops. Although, They are in need of a lot more polish than his running style.
