Colin Cowherd has never hidden the fact that he is a bit of a stan for USC. He is a college football fan living in Los Angeles. He knows it is good for the game when the Trojans are good. That didn’t stop some of his colleagues from taking the FOX Sports Radio host to task for going a little overboard on Twitter on Tuesday.
According to Colin Cowherd, Lincoln Riley ran what a source told him was “the greatest practice ever on a college campus” in his first outing with the Trojans.
That brought plenty of criticism Cowherd’s way. Some of it was ribbing, but tongue-in-cheek.
Some of it was critical of Cowherd.
Some of it was critical of USC and the school’s football culture.
Whenever Colin Cowherd makes an over-the-top, declarative statement, one colleague will rush to mock it. Dan Le Batard took the tweet and put his own spin on it in honor of The U, his alma mater.
We’re all in the attention business in sports radio. Cowherd will say that every chance he gets. “I don’t have to be right. I just have to be interesting” is a favorite quote of his.
This tweet probably isn’t right, but it certainly is interesting as evidenced by the reaction it generated.
