Symone Sanders spent time as the former senior adviser to Vice President Kamala Harris, but now as she transitions to working in news media, her show on MSNBC won’t be about defending the Biden Administration.
“I’m not here to be a spokesperson for the Biden administration,” Sanders said, per The Hill. “I had that job already.”
With her show on MSNBC premiering on Saturday, Sanders plans to tell it like it is and not sugarcoat topics, even when it comes to the administration that she worked for recently.
“I’m going to be honest, and sometimes the honesty means that what I have to say is not what the administration would have to say. And that’s fine, because it’s my show.”
Sanders also discussed her vision for the show as she not only wants to reach the Washington D.C. insider news junkies. The MSNBC host wants to include those who would be part of a “nonpolitical group chat,” covering not only Congress but pop culture and stories beyond the Beltway.
“We’re going to do today’s headlines, but we’re going to go deeper. We’re going to get to the weeds,” Sanders said. “I’m a millennial, and the only reason, frankly, I was turning on the TV was because of the job that I worked.”
“So my show is going to reach people like me: young people who are engaged, who are paying attention, who care, but who may not be watching TV as regularly.”
Sanders’ new show will air Saturdays and Sundays at 4 p.m. She’ll also be hosting a streaming program on Mondays and Tuesdays on Peacock.
